Your child's care, safety and wellbeing
Safer sleep and rest
Every child has their own sleep needs. We agree each child's routine with you and follow EYFS requirements and Lullaby Trust safer-sleep guidance.
- Babies always placed on their backs to sleep, on a firm, flat, clear surface
- No pillows, bumpers, soft toys or loose bedding in sleep spaces
- Room temperature, clothing and bedding checked to prevent overheating
- Sleeping children supervised and regularly checked
- We follow tiredness cues: never forcing sleep or keeping a tired child awake
- Quiet, cosy rest spaces for older children who no longer nap
Intimate care and dignity
Nappy changing, toileting and personal care are moments to build trust, communication and independence.
- Provided only by trained, authorised practitioners
- Privacy and dignity respected, without compromising safety
- We explain what we're doing and encourage children to help
- Never any shame over accidents or stage of development
- Toilet learning when your child is ready, in partnership with you
- Personalised care plans for SEND or medical needs
Daily routines
Predictable routines help children feel secure, with the flexibility to respect each child as an individual.
- A balance of play, learning, rest, meals and outdoor time
- Babies' feeding and sleep follow their home routines
- Visual prompts and familiar adults support transitions
- Extra reassurance during change, illness or tiredness
Attendance and absence
Regular attendance helps children settle, build friendships and get the most from nursery. It is also an important part of keeping them safe.
- Please let us know on Famly or by phone if your child will be absent
- We follow up promptly on any unexplained absence
- We look out for patterns of absence and offer support to families
- Please keep your contact and emergency details up to date
