Play is how children learn.
Learning through play
Play isn't something children do between learning; it is how they learn. Building blocks, exploring the garden, sharing a story or making a snack all develop new skills and understanding. We carefully balance child-led play with planned, adult-guided experiences so every child is challenged, supported and inspired.

Every child's journey is unique
Our planning responds to each child, following a simple cycle.
- 1
Observe
We watch children play to discover their interests and emerging skills.
- 2
Plan
We build on each child's strengths and gently extend their learning.
- 3
Play & learn
Child-led play balanced with adult-guided experiences.
- 4
Review
We share progress with you and set next steps together.
Your child's Key Person
Every child chooses their own dedicated Key Person, who will:
- Builds a close, trusting bond with your child
- Gets to know their routines, interests and needs
- Tracks their learning and plans next steps
- Is your main point of contact at handover
- A familiar 'buddy' steps in if they're away
Learning in every moment
Washing hands before lunch, tidying away, putting on coats or sharing a story: everyday routines are rich chances to grow confidence, communication and independence through our 6 Cs.
At the end of each day we share your child's experiences and achievements through Famly and at handover.
Outdoor play: building the foundations for learning
Before little hands can write, little bodies need to move.
Climbing, balancing, digging, building and painting aren't just play. They build the strength, coordination and confidence children need for writing and lifelong learning, supporting all three EYFS prime areas.
From big movements to little hands
- Climbing, balancing and obstacle courses for strength and body awareness
- Digging, pouring and scooping to strengthen hands
- Big painting and chalk mark-making on vertical surfaces
- Building with natural materials and using real tools
- Ball games for hand-eye coordination
- Language, friendships and independence grow outdoors too
Positive behaviour
- Model kindness, respect and good manners
- Praise effort, perseverance and kindness
- Help children understand and manage emotions
- Support calm, fair solutions to disagreements
We never use practices that could make a child feel frightened, embarrassed or ashamed.
