Baby Cottage

Our Baby Cottage has the facilities to care for babies from 3 months to 18 months and caters for each individual child as they develop. Children progress through our Baby Cottage at their own pace and our dedicated team of Nursery Nurses ensure each child receives the best possible loving care and attention. In addition, we provide daily opportunities for the babies to go outside into the garden for activities, taking the learning and fun outside.

The sleeping area is soothing and restful, with twinkling stars and soft lullabies to help your child drift off to sleep. We have invested in Shanti Cots which encourage independence in our growing babies so that they can decide when they feel tired and to snuggle into the lower bunks for a well-deserved nap. 

Toddler Room

Our Toddler stage caters for children aged 18 months to 3 years and is organised into two groups, the under two's and the over two's. During their time in this stage the children will be learning important social skills and developing their language with the help of their key worker in small groups of 3 or 4 children. Our toddlers have free access to the Great Hall, where they take their meals, and to the extensive gardens, so they will come and go as they please throughout the day. If the weather is fine they will take their meals and sleep out in the garden. They also have easy access to toilet facilities so that they can further develop their independence.

Pre-School Room

Our Pre-School Room caters for children aged 3-5 years and is situated in the Solar, one of the most atmospheric rooms in the Nursery. During their time in this room the children will be preparing for school in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The children are allocated a Key Worker and work in groups of 8. All meals are taken together in the Great Hall, which is a great opportunity to socialise and naturally, your child has free access to the gardens whatever the weather. During your child’s time in the Pre-School Room they will develop their journals further and work towards their pre-school profiles.

Sensory Room

Our purpose built Sensory Room is for every child to engage in visual and tactile interaction which will stimulate their learning and development whilst also encouraging calm and relaxation. A soft white room with a passive calmness becomes a vibrant and exciting mirrored maze, reflecting the breadth of light and colour or a dark starlit space that heightens the focus on sound and stillness.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is right at the heart of our nursery, and is a magnificent open space where all our children can gather to learn, play and socialise surrounded by over seven centuries of history. The massive old oak door leads directly to our rear garden and children are encouraged to use the space to come and go wherever their imaginations take them.

This is also where the toddlers and pre-school children gather to eat for all meals.

The Servery

Leading off the hall is the Servery, which is a place where children can obtain healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day, or they can join in with cooking experiences such as making and baking bread, and preparing food for their meals.
