Outdoors at Muddy Boots

All children love exploring the outdoors and our safe and secure play area gives them a wealth of opportunities to investigate the natural world whilst developing their confidence and learning about the world around them. The CrackerJack’s philosophy is about bringing the inside outside and we see the outdoors as an extension of the learning experiences provided for each child within the nursery.

At Muddy Boots we have almost three acres of private grounds for our children to explore and discover. We believe passionately that children should be allowed to play and develop their independence whatever the weather.

All weather surfaces as well as a range of grassed and bark areas enhance the equipment and resources provided for the children. High quality all weather suits are provided to ensure our children can safely and comfortably access the outdoors all year round.

The garden is not filled with purpose-built play equipment, rather a varied and changing seasonal selection of natural and exciting objects for children to explore and make sense of. Sandpits, digging areas, planters and safe water features provide an exciting and stimulating environment where learning becomes childsplay.

The Garden Classroom

We have provided a hand built wooden outdoor classroom which is designed to provide shade and shelter for our children throughout the year. We use this room for eating lunch or sleeping, for gathering together, storytelling and all kinds of group activities whatever the weather. In the darker evenings the classroom is lit with twinkling fairy lights and storm lanterns which allows outdoor play to continue well into the twilight.
